Ministry for the Aged – Dignity in Later Years
“Leave your fatherless children; I will keep them alive, and let your widows trust in Me.”
(Jeremiah 49:11)
Jesus Followers Ministries (JFM) extends Joshi Anna’s compassion to India’s elderly, creating loving homes where the aged find security, joy, and the Gospel. Like our work with orphans and church planting, this ministry honors God’s heart for the vulnerable, ensuring no one is forgotten in their final years.
A Growing Crisis in Families
In modern India, over 1,000 old age homes exist nationwide, but Andhra Pradesh has scarcely any—most can be counted on fingers. Many seniors face abandonment: children view them as burdens, evicting them or forcing them into neglectful facilities. Poverty, migration, and family breakdowns leave elders homeless, lonely, and without care.
JFM rejects this tragedy. While family care remains ideal, reality demands action. Our vision: Build simple homes for the aged in strategic villages, offering shelter, meals, medical prayer, and fellowship—transforming isolation into family-like community.
Gospel-Centered Homes
These homes provide more than shelter:
- Daily needs: Nutritious food, clean bedding, and basic healthcare.
- Spiritual nurture: Gospel meetings, Bible studies, hymn singing, and personal counseling.
- Community life: Shared stories, grievances, and joys create an “unusual family” of peers.
- Joyful activities: Festivals, outings, and skill-sharing restore purpose and happiness.
Elders hear Joshi Anna’s timeless radio messages archived for them, with sons Pastor John Spurgeon and Brother Bakth Singh visiting to preach and pray. Many come to Christ in their golden years, finding eternal hope amid earthly trials.
Joshi Anna’s Heart for the Elderly
Joshi Anna’s verse-by-verse teaching emphasized honoring parents and caring for widows. His media outreach touched lonely seniors tuning in from villages. Today, his sons carry this burden, integrating elder homes with local churches—where new believers worship alongside youth and families.
